Tag Standards: Full circle for Library cataloging?
It is very ironic that someone is calling for a standard for web tags ("The Need for Creating Tag Standards"). After all the body blows that Library cataloging has taken in the Age of the Web, it seems that the bloggerati are starting to run in to information management problems, ones which traditional (and more modern) library cataloging have long dealt with (not always in the best ways, BTW). While the blog entry is focuses on more mundane issues than classification, it does talk about the implications of the anarchy which is out there and how difficult this makes it if you want to get to the Semantic Web Promised Land....
